Casey Ewers certainly knows a lot about wine. She has been writing her blog, Travelling Corkscrew, for over 6 years, and has been trying as many different wines from as many different regions as she can.
So when she was asked by Cruise1st Australia to recommend where wine-lovers should go to experience WA wine culture, she knew she had to mention Swan Valley.
It has become her temporary home, and she can’t get enough of the enormous variety of wine available at her fingertips.
Western Australia as a whole produces just 5% of the country’s total wine output, but despite the small figure, our state doesn’t lack variety, quality, wineries or wine events.
About our state, Ewers says, “WA should be on everyone’s wine travel bucket list!”
The Swan Valley is Western Australia’s oldest wine region, with descendants of the original Italian and Croatian founders still present in the area.
The area features multiple state-of-the-art boutique wineries, and you can get a taste of many of them on the Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail.
The area specialises in a selection of Verdelho, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet.
